Corbin March Exhibition

Featured Artist, Winnie Pruitt

Winnie Pruitt, born February 21st, 1938, has spent most of her life in Crisfield, MD, except while traveling as a military wife from 1955 to 1968. Married to Eugie Pruitt for 70 years, she began drawing at age 12, initially using pencil due to limited resources. As an adult, Winnie taught herself various mediums including oils, watercolors, ink, photography, clay, crushed eggshells, tole painting, lifelike newborn dolls, wood carving, and more. She acquired her first saw in 1970, overcoming her fear and excelling at woodwork projects like cradles and Christmas figures. After purchasing and restoring the Stevens Home in 1968, she decorated it with her own colonial and oriental-inspired art. While working night shifts as an RN, she continued creating art featuring family and local scenery. Winnie also restores clocks, filling her home with them. For her 88th birthday, she simply requested a piece of plywood for a new idea.​

We want to hear from you! Join us for our next Community Input Meeting on March 10! Bring your ideas! This is an informal, fun, informational meeting where we look at future ideas for the Art & Entertainment District. We will also have Art Kits available if you would like to participate in the Connecting the Community through Art Mural project and we will also be able to answer any questions regarding that project. Light refreshments will be served. Meeting starts at 5:30pm

Join us at the Crisfield American Legion on March 12th at 6:00 PM for a fun-filled evening of creativity and relaxation! No experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm and we'll provide all the materials you need! Whether you're a seasoned painter or a novice, this event is perfect for anyone looking to have a good time. Come alone or bring your friends - either way, you're guaranteed to have a blast. Food & Drink will be available for purchase at the bar!!

For this class you have the chance to make a door hanger OR a unique interchangeable ladder.

We provide all materials and step-by-step instructions!

Door Hanger

Choose from 11 different Designs. Each door hanger will come with a Jute string attached for the door hanger. You can request a sawtooth hanger during the class if you prefer to hang yours indoors. The Classic Monogram will come with a sawtooth hanger, as most people hang these indoors.

Connecting Crisfield Community Through Art Mural Workshop

Saturday, March 21, 2026, 1 - 3 PM

4 East Main, Crisfield, MD

Join the Connecting Crisfield Through Art workshop to help create a collaborative mural celebrating Crisfield’s culture. All participants receive an art kit to paint, guided by local artists. Using a special process, a ceramic tile with each image created will become part of an 8’ x 12’ mural featuring a sunset, dock, water, and crabs in a basket.

Enjoy a friendly, creative environment where everyone’s unique vision contributes to a lasting community legacy. The workshop is a chance to learn, connect, and make memories while building a meaningful public art piece.

The art piece you create at the workshop will remain at Corbin Gallery until the mural is completed. At that time, it will be returned to you. You may request additional ceramic tiles of your image by emailing artsincrisfield@gmail.com
