ART ON WHEELS REGISTRATION

Register March 7 or March 14 at the Captain's Carry Out, 947 W Main Street from 10 AM until 12 noon

Race will take place Saturday, April 4 at the Crab Place, 504 Maryland Avenue from 11 AM until 3 PM.

 

Participants must register in advance. Registration takes place March 7 and March 14 at the Captain's Carry Out, 947 W Main Street from 10 AM until 12 noon. Each child that pre registers will receive a free race car to paint and decorate as desired and will participate in a race by age. Participants are to be ages 4 through 9 and will compete in their age group.

 

This free event is sponsored by the Crab Place, the Crisfield Arts & Entertainment District Project, Captain's Carry Out and Sam's Auto Center.

DESIGN PROPOSALS FOR ART BIKE RACKS DUE

April 2 - 4 pm

The Maryland State Arts Council has funded a grant for art bike rack designs. Three artists will each be awarded $500, for a total of $1,500. More information is available here. Designs and applications must be emailed to arts@crisfieldcityhall.com.

ANNUAL CRISFIELD SPRING YARD SALE & yART SALE

April 4 - 7:30 am - 12 pm - Community Wide

The Crisfield community is encouraged to hold yard sales on their property or to partner with a friend with property on a highly traveled street to sell items. Sales or art, both old and new, and art supplies such as frames are also encouraged.

Want all the benefit of decluttering with none of the work of hosting a sale? Support Crisfield Community Radio WBYC 107.3, by donating items, which can be dropped off at the Somerset Arts Council, 26430 Burton Ave in Crisfield on Mon, Tues, Wed & Fridays from 10 am to 2pm.  These items will be sold at the radio station at 4 South Seventh Street, Crisfield (across from Big Willey's).

WEBSITE WORKSHOP

April 29, 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Crisfield Library, 100 Collins St

This course will  allow artists and small businesses to create a simple website to increase digital marketing potential.  This site is not intended to sell retail products but rather to help potential buyers visitors searching online to find the artist or business location and contact information. Computers will be provided for workshop attendees, or you may bring your own laptop.  Free software from Wix will be used to create a website.  6 participants maximum, register here.

SOFT SHELL SPRING FAIR

Don't miss an original Eastern Shore event, the Soft Crab Festival in Crisfield,sponsored by the Crisfield Lioness Lions Club and the Crisfield Lions Club.  This is a great chance to make a weekend of it - especially for foodies!

SMITH ISLAND ART FESTIVAL

May 30 - 11:30 am to 3:30 pm - Smith Island Cultural Center, 20846 Caleb Jones Road, Ewell, Maryland 21824

 

This Festival celebrates the work of regional artists, and the cultural heritage of Smith Island.  Food vendors Bar-B-Que, Crab Cakes, Oyster Sandwiches, and authentic Smith Island cake, Artists and Vendor tables will be on display and for sale, and an amateur photography contest.

J. MILLARD TAWES CRAB & CLAM BAKE

July 15 - Somers Cove Marina

The J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake is a Maryland must-attend, see-and-be-seen political institution, equal parts seafood and schmooze. The annual celebration is named in honor of Crisfield native, J. Millard Tawes, the 54th Governor of the State of Maryland. It is described in Frommers Travel Guides as "an outdoor all-you-can-eat affair featuring crabs, clams, fish, corn on the cob, and watermelon, and in election years, lots of politicians."

NATIONAL HARD CRAB DERBY

Crisfield's National Hard Crab Derby is an annual Labor Day weekend event. The unique crab themed festival features crab races, crab cooking and picking contests, carnival rides, arts and crafts, vendors, live entertainment, beauty pageants, a parade, fireworks and more.

NOON YEARS EVE PARTY

Crisfield Library, 100 Collins St, Crisfield

Fun, food, crafts, music, and a balloon drop! Balloon drop will take place at 12 noon.

NEW YEARS EVE OYSTER DROP

Indoor party from 9 pm to midnight with an oyster drop held outside behind the library at midnight.

Complimentary pizza and snack foods will be served, along with a limited amount of beer and wine for those with proper identification. A sparkling juice champagne toast for all ages will take place at midnight. Dress is casual, with warm layers recommended for the outdoor portion of the event.
